New premises BISLMarch 20th 2014 marked another milestone in the history of the British International School of Ljubljana as David Cooksey, Principal and Director of BISL and Jorg Kosler, Director of Impakta Holding, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will guarantee a new home for BISL at Cesta v Gorice 34, Ljubljana, from August 2014.

On behalf of Impakta Holding, Mr Kosler expressed his delight at the company’s involvement with such a prestigious institution as the British International School. Mr Cooksey, on behalf of the school community, expressed his pleasure at being able to continue the dream of Founder and Headmaster, Jeremy Hibbins, and to lead the school into Phase 2 of its development. The school has a stated aim of balancing tradition and innovation and that aim is now carried through into the structure of the building itself with its own balance of tradition and innovation. Sarah Higgins, Jeremy’s sister, spoke of her delight that Jeremy’s dream was alive and well, and so obviously flourishing.

The agreement allows all sections of the school to be on one site for the first time since it opened in 2008 in part of the Vito Kraigher Primary School in Ljubljana with 22 students. The school will now be housed in 2250 m2 in one of the most technically advanced buildings in Ljubljana and plans include state of the art science facilities and a roof-top Art department. As well as dedicated Sixth Form facilities, a dance and drama studio and music room, the school will have 900 m2 of outside play area and the new building and grounds allow scope for further expansion of the school in the future.
